On a rainy Monday morning Twin Peaks students, staff and families came to school oniy to find an incredible show of appreciation to our military who is also the PTSA Hospitality Chair. There was an enormous banner thanking the military for their sacrifice displayed in front of the school, which was flanked by 25 green wreaths. At the forefront of the display were colorful fresh wreaths representing each branch of the military and adorned by flowers that coordinated with that military branch’s colors. Melissa Huk also gathered together some of our very own Twin Peaks servicemen and women, who braved the rain in their uniforms to meet and greet with our parents, staff and students. Students were abie to participate by placing fiags into the ground around the display which was featured in the Poway News Chieftain. I saw many parents who were touched by the event and wanted to thank the service members in person. Parent . Thank you to Melissa Huk for creating such a memorable event locating sponsors, making the banner, inviting the military personnel, and braving the rain in the early morning to set it all up so our military families know that we have not forgotten their sacrifice, especially when so many are deployed over the holidays.
